Adopt Birus

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

Identified by microchip Type: European Color: Black and white - Coat: Short Neutered Tested FIV (AIDS) and FELV (Leukemia) negative Vaccinated for Typhus and cat flu Health: All is well in a foster home Hello bipeds! I'm Birus! A quiet little feline at first, but full of love to give once trust is gained. I'm not the type to jump into the arms of the first person I meet, I need a bit of time to observe, analyze and decide that yes, you are a good person. But once reassured, I become a real little purr machine and a source of tenderness. Read more... I love other cats! They reassure me, show me the way and help me understand the human world better. If you already have one or more feline friends at home, I would be delighted to join them. As for dogs, I don't fear them, but let's say I let them live their lives. I am also a big food lover. As soon as something smells good in the kitchen, here I am! And another bonus, I am a great gardener... Finally, a feline gardener, I don't understand why you bipeds don't appreciate our work but good news, I compensate with my adorable face and irresistible look! What I need is a gentle and patient family, who will let me come at my own pace, and a friend to help me progress. I am not yet a lap cat, but I am progressing, and who knows? Maybe in a few months, I will settle right next to you without hesitation. So, if you have a place for a little heart on legs seeking peace and love, I am ready to try the adventure with you! About Birus

What life with Birus looks like

Birus is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus in France.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Birus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Birus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Birus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Birus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Birus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Birus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Birus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
