Adopt Black Betty

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 4 months

Found location/date: ROW/Ostereistedt, Alte Dorfstr. area on 14.04.2026 Gender: female Age: not yet known neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, FIV positive UPDATE 6.05.2026 The kitten from Black Betty has now moved to a really wonderful foster home, where it is being thoroughly cared for and pampered, and can stay there, for which we are very, very grateful! Unfortunately, Black Betty tested positive for FIV. This is initially a fact, as she is doing well so far. However, it does affect the conditions in her potential new home: She can be an only princess, or live with other FIV-positive animals, and any outdoor access must be secure. The environment should be calm and stable so that she can have a stress-free cat life. If you have any further questions about this pretty female cat, please feel free to contact the animal shelter directly. UPDATE 22.04.2026 Black Betty is very friendly and cuddly; she has developed absolutely positively. UPDATE 17.04.2026 The examination revealed that her uterus is empty. However, she has a cold, a broken tooth, and additional missing teeth.

UPDATE 17.04.2026 Die Untersuchunghat

About Black Betty

What life with Black Betty looks like

Black Betty is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Rotenburg a.d.F. e.V. in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Black Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Black Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Rotenburg a.d.F. e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Black Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Black Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Rotenburg a.d.F. e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Black Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Black Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Rotenburg a.d.F. e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Black Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
