adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Blacky has found his luck! His story: The little Blacky no longer understands the world. Blacky's owner personally handed him over to us at the animal shelter. He is likely a lorry driver who found a job abroad. Now he can no longer take proper care of the little guy. Currently, Blacky is in a noisy pen, surrounded by not always pleasant smells and a lot of noise. What he doesn't know is that he actually had a lot of luck and was not simply abandoned somewhere. Now, the little Blacky eagerly awaits his happy ending. Blacky is a small, funny, and friendly creature that the helpers on site have already wrapped their paws around. At the moment, he is 40 cm in size and weighs a delicate 8-9 kg. He will certainly grow a bit more but will remain of medium size. He has beautiful, shiny black fur, and the white spot on his chest and the amber eyes emphasize his beauty even more. Blacky gets along well with other dogs, but cats have not yet been tested. Blacky is looking for people who don't expect much from him at first. After a long journey, he needs to settle down and get used to his new environment. Even though he has already known life in a house, he should be forgiven for the occasional mishap. He is almost still a baby, and puberty is already around the corner. So much newness, the hormone chaos demands a little patience. With lots of love, a dash of humor, and consistent training (and even if he looks so cute 😉), Blacky will definitely develop into a great companion. He is looking forward to many adventures in nature and also attending a dog training class. At first, Blacky should not be left alone frequently and for long periods, as he is still very young. Since Blacky is a mixed breed, it remains to be seen which traits will come to the fore and how physically and mentally we can keep him occupied so he doesn't get bored. Of course, plenty of cuddles are not to be missed. Blacky travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. He also has his EU pet passport in his luggage. After a positive review, a foster home would also be a springboard into a happy dog life for Blacky. Who still has a dog bed free for the little Blacky? He has already packed his bag and is looking forward to your inquiry. Thanks, Jasmin K.! You gave Blacky his name and thus enabled the start of a worry-free life. As of: 08.07. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Stand: 08.07.2024

About Blacky

What life with Blacky looks like

Blacky is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
