Blanch

Dachshund · Male · Young · 2 years

Breed: Dachshund X Collie About: Blanch came to the shelter as a stray. She was very nervous, frightened and confused. As we don’t know anything about her past history, it has taken some time for her to settle and feel safe. She would benefit in a quieter, adult only home, preferably women only as Blanch can be very vocal towards men. Blanch will need regular exercise, routine & further socialisation to help build her confidence when out walking. She would also benefit from having someone at home throughout the day to help her settle and feel secure. Suitable to live with: Adult only home(women) Compatible With Other Animals: Dogs: Can live with another male dog (pending a meet & greet) Cats: Not suitable to live with cats Microchip no: 972274200682529

About Blanch

What life with Blanch looks like

Blanch is a small young adult dachshund dog waiting at Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary in Dublin.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Blanch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blanch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blanch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blanch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Blanch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blanch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blanch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
