Blaustirnamazone

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

We urgently seek a new, suitable home for our Amazone Chiko, whom we mostly call Bumie. The sex is a small secret: the previous owner gave us Bumie as a rooster, but a veterinarian later suspected it was a hen. Bumie's journey over the past two years has been marked by many changes. We originally took the bird from an elderly lady who could no longer care for her due to illness. The first year Bumie spent with my parents, as my mother had an amazing connection with the animal. Unfortunately, this luck did not last: the noise produced by the bird became too much for my parents' dog, causing immense mental stress. The stress was so great that it showed a severe physical reaction and only scratched itself due to the mental strain. For this reason, Bumie eventually had to move in with me and my partner. Here we must now admit with heavy hearts that we are reaching our limits: Bumie and we simply do not get along. The bird shows us a very aggressive and rejecting behavior. Daily feeding and water changes become absolute disasters every time, as Bumie deliberately bites and pecks at us. Due to this constant tension and our own uncertainty, free flight is currently impossible. It's just too bad for the animal to live like this. We realize that we cannot do justice to Bumie with our fear and lack of experience. Therefore, we sincerely wish for a new beginning for the bird with absolute Amazon experts. Bumie needs people with plenty of time, patience, and the necessary composure who are not intimidated by initial defensive behavior and can rebuild trust step by step.

About Blaustirnamazone

What life with Blaustirnamazone looks like

Blaustirnamazone is a senior mixed breed bird waiting at Federnhilfe in Germany.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blaustirnamazone, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blaustirnamazone?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Federnhilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blaustirnamazone on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blaustirnamazone if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Federnhilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blaustirnamazone already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blaustirnamazone isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Federnhilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blaustirnamazone and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
