Blue

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Meet our handsome boy Blue, a wonderful French Bulldog who is around 5 to 6 years old. Blue arrived in our care as a stray and is now looking for a forever home that understands his fun loving personality. When Blue first arrived at the centre he was understandably worried, but he has settled in well and has shown us what a cheeky character he really is. He certainly is not for the faint hearted and is guaranteed to keep you smiling with his larger than life personality. Blue is currently working on his manners, especially when it comes to having his lead and harness put on and taken off. His excitement can sometimes get the better of him and he may try to grab them during the process. He is a bright little lad who is easily distracted, is highly food motivated and absolutely loves his toys, making him a great candidate for continued positive reward based training. We feel Blue would be best suited to a calm adult only home with someone who has previous French Bulldog experience. He could potentially live with a well matched canine companion following successful introductions at the centre. Blue loves getting out for walks and exploring the world around him. Once he has settled into his walk, he has lovely lead manners and enjoys taking everything in at his own pace. Blue is quite an independent boy who will need time, patience and understanding to adjust to his new home and build a bond with his new family. He would benefit from continued guidance and positive reward based training classes to help him become the very best version of himself. If you are looking for a fun, cheeky companion who will keep you entertained every single day, Blue could be the perfect addition to your family.

About Blue

What life with Blue looks like

Blue is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cardiff Dogs Home.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cardiff Dogs Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cardiff Dogs Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cardiff Dogs Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
