Blue

Shar Pei · Male · Young · 2 years

Blue is a lovely boy with lots of personality and plenty of character! He has so much to offer the right person and could form a really special bond with his new family. He can be unsure of new people and situations, and building his trust will take time, patience and understanding. His new owners will need to allow him to settle at his own pace and avoid rushing him before he is ready. He is looking for a home where his owners can dedicate plenty of time to continuing his training and building his confidence. Positive reinforcement, consistency and patience will be really important in helping him develop and feel more secure. Getting to know Blue and watching his confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding. Once he trusts you, you’ll get to see more of his wonderful personality and all the character that makes him so special. Blue needs owners who are prepared to put the time, patience and effort into helping him become the happiest and most confident version of himself. Could you be the patient and understanding home that Blue has been waiting for? - Can live with children 12+ that will give him space when he needs it. - Would prefer to be the only animal in the home - Will need a secure and private garden with 5ft fencing. - Will need someone at home the majority of the day.

About Blue

What life with Blue looks like

Blue is a young adult shar pei dog waiting at RSPCA Coventry and District Branch in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Coventry and District Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Coventry and District Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Coventry and District Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
