Adopt Blue

Male · Adult · 4 years

Our XXL Bully female dog Blue was born in October 2022 and is therefore one of our puppies. She is not spayed and weighs about 43 kg. The sweet female dog is open and affectionate towards trusted people, sometimes a bit too close and eager. With strangers, she initially appears reserved and cautious. She gets along very well with other animals and quickly warms up to other dogs. She shows clear leash reactivity, which is already being worked on in training. In the environment, the lovely mouse moves confidently and stably; cars, cyclists, and joggers are no problem for her. If Blue doesn't know something, she is curious and interested. The female dog didn't learn much in her previous life, but through training, she now knows the common basic commands. It is difficult for her to concentrate when there are other interesting stimuli around; this still needs work. We are looking for experienced dog people who can give her the necessary structure and teach her the basics of dog behavior with love and patience. As she is a real powerhouse, the new owners must be able to lead and handle Blue. Stable children from teenage age would not be a problem for her, and an older male dog would also be possible. Other animals such as cats, however, should not live in her new home. If we have now sparked your interest, please contact us via the or fill out our questionnaire directly under the following link: We look forward to your messages! www.animal welfare association-muenchen.

About Blue

What life with Blue looks like

Blue is a extra-large adult dog waiting at Tierheim Paderborn in Paderborn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Paderborn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Paderborn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Paderborn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
