Adopt Bob

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 12 years

"Bob" is a young, playful and energetic dog who loves to run and pick up all the toys along the way! He is also very affectionate, kind and approachable with humans, always ready to share moments of closeness. However, "Bob" is reactive towards other animals of the same species. It will therefore be recommended for him to wear a muzzle when outside, and to set up a follow-up with a dog trainer to help him with this issue. If you have a garden, it must be well fenced. Ideally, "Bob" should be left inside when he is alone, as he might try to escape if left alone outside for too long. Like many abandoned dogs, "Bob" does not like being alone and could get into some trouble if his adopter does not gradually teach him how to handle absences. On walks, he tends to pull on the leash, too eager to run and expend energy! He will need daily walks to let off steam and find balance again. He will need a home without cats, as "Bob" does not really appreciate their presence. A home with children over 12 years old could be considered for "Bob". "Bob" will bring dynamism and affection to his new home, in fact he is waiting for it! To adopt "Bob", you will need to have a certificate of suitability for dogs of categories as well as civil liability insurance.

Read original (fr)

About Bob

What life with Bob looks like

Bob is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
