BOB

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 4 years

BOB, 16 kilograms, heart adoption BOB is a disabled puppy, medium sized (about 16 kg), born on October 15, 2022 in Puglia, where he was rescued from the street by a volunteer. As a very young pup, he was transferred to a pension in Mantova to undergo all necessary exams to determine his condition. It is probably a congenital anomaly related to a malfunction of the brain structures. He will remain a dog with motor ataxia. Bob is independent, but has major difficulties on smooth floors and with stairs. He can walk fairly well on a leash, but clearly is not a dog for apartment living or one that can be taken for walks anywhere. Bob has quick and sharp intelligence and, overall, is able to lead an autonomous and peaceful life. He gets along very well with other dogs; he knows how to play with them, initially barking and bossy with his peers without being able to attack; then he gets tired and calms down, all show and no substance. He is not compatible with cats. He feeds himself and eventually can do everything a normal dog can do. Obviously, he needs assistance creating a safe and quiet environment where he can live. For his adoption, it is absolutely necessary to have other dogs present to stimulate him to play and interact, and adopters who are able to support him as one would a child with mobility issues. BOB is available for visits in Volta Mantovana, by appointment, after a phone call to our association. The little one (German Shepherd mix) will be given dewormed, vaccinated and microchipped after completing a pre-adoption questionnaire and a pre-adoption visit. Only adults, no time-wasters. We require maximum seriousness and conscious adoption. Solo maggiorenni, no perditempo. Si richiede massima serietà e adozione consapevole. About BOB

What life with BOB looks like

BOB is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Adottami col Cuore in Andria (BAT).

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting BOB, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BOB?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Adottami col Cuore handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BOB on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BOB if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Adottami col Cuore will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BOB already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BOB isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Adottami col Cuore early rather than rehoming privately; they know BOB and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
