Bob

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Bob, formerly Cohete, is a young male dog with a big heart, soft fur, and a remarkable talent for snuggling right into the lives of his people. His start in life was far from cozy, as our charmer was found as a tiny ball of fur with his 13 siblings in a plastic bag at the beginning of 2024—destined to die. Thankfully, a group of engaged animal welfare workers in Spain gave him a different turn of fate. In the same year, Bob was then able to travel from his foster home in Sevilla as a rambunctious puppy to Germany and join his family, who, unfortunately, had to give him up. Now, our little hero is searching for a new home for life—one that truly suits him and where he can show what a wonderful companion he can be. Bob is not only smart, eager to learn, and full of life, but above all a real cuddle ball. Wherever there are little people, Bob is often not far, as he enjoys the closeness of his hand-preferring humans, looks forward to shared time, and takes cuddles very seriously. His second great passion is water—wherever there is splashing, swimming, or at least hopeful strides toward a puddle, Bob is enthusiastically involved. However, outside, it also shows that Bob is not a carefree explorer who casually checks the world by, but rather a sensitive observer who perceives much intensely and still needs support in new or unfamiliar situations. For him, we wish for people who show him with calmness, clarity, and loving reliability that he doesn’t have to keep the whole world in his sights, but that one can orient themselves on trustworthy two-legged beings. The most beautiful home for Bob would be a dog-experienced home that gives him a quiet, stable framework and joy in accompanying him on his journey. Whether as a lone cuddler or alongside a confident first dog to which he can orient himself—what’s most important is that his people bring patience, empathy, and a good sense for dogs, because then Bob has the best chance to develop into a fully wonderful everyday companion. With his shoulder height of about 52 cm and weight of around 22 kg, Bob brings a wonderful all-around size—big enough for real adventures, small enough to still be a warm lap for, where one can still see the TV or grab a chip bag. Bob is neutered, regularly cared for, and in general a lively, fit dog, though he suffers from some allergies. His family has already found a very good feeding program for him and is happy to help advise his new home. Bob is not looking for a home off the shelf, but people with heart, humor, and a loving eye for the special. For those who want to open themselves up to a sensitive, cuddly, child-loving, and especially tender dog, Bob is a real character with a lot to give and with the right people by his side, he can surely achieve great things.

DE·Show original

About Bob

What life with Bob looks like

Bob is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
