Adopt Bobbie

Cane Corso · Unknown

"Bobbie" came to us at the animal shelter through a confiscation and is now in better hands. The large male dog is a real power pack but is also a cuddle ball. He often simply doesn't know what to do with his energy and strength. This can initially seem a bit overwhelming. However, if you properly tire out "Bobbie" and allow him to release some of his power, he becomes much more cooperative. The everyday life at the animal shelter stresses him very much and he is not adequately stimulated. "Bobbie" does know basic commands, though. If you spend more time with him, you can notice that he has also worked on leash manners. On walks, he still reacts very strongly to other dogs. We do not want to rule out, however, that he may still be compatible with other dogs. This depends on their mutual liking. We do not know, though, whether and how well he can be left alone. "Bobbie" is not house-trained at the animal shelter yet, but this can quickly settle in a regulated household. For "Bobbie," we wish for dog-experienced people who can properly handle him and continue to train him on his shortcomings. At the same time, "Bobbie" looks forward to many cuddle sessions and outings where he can continue to explore the world. Small children or cats should not be in his future home.

About Bobbie

What life with Bobbie looks like

Bobbie is a large adult cane corso dog waiting at Tierheim Solingen in Solingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobbie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobbie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Solingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobbie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobbie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Solingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobbie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobbie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Solingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobbie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
