Adopt Bobbie

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

I originally arrived at Oakwood back in Janurary 2021. When I first arrived I was very scared due to how mistreated I was in Romania. It took me a while to begin to trust people again but I managed to find a home in March 2021. In the home I was very loved and the last 14 months I was there I made lots of progress in so many ways. Sadly, I have now come back to Oakwood due to compatibility issues with my family. I am an incredibly loyal boy and tend to bond strongly with one person. For this reason I would prefer a 1 person household that I can give all my love and attention to. The humans said they understand what a huge ask this is though so they will also be happy to look at a 2 person household too, it just may take me a little longer for me to feel safe with meeting 2 new people at the same time. Unfortunately I can really struggle with new people and introductions need to be very slow so that I feel safe - but I promise that I will be the bravest boy and do my absolute best as I really do want nothing more than to meet my forever family. Once I trust you, I guarentee that you will have a best friend for life. My ideal home would have minimal visitors. I'm a lazy boy who enjoys snoozing in my comfy beds, don't let that fool you though because I am super clever really! I enjoy enrichment and love my snuffle & lick mats. I also really enjoy obedience and trick training and it seems to entertain the humans when I show off all the cool tricks I know. I also love a blast on our big field, especially with my girlfriend Alex <3 The staff here at Oakwood have been helping me get used to lead walking. I will now walk around the centre on a lead just fine, and I'll walk out the back to our further away fields but I struggle out in the front car park as all of the people and cars scare me and I just want to get back to the safety of the rescue as soon as possible. My adopter will need to understand that I may never be a dog that enjoys going on walks but I will enjoy sunbathing in the garden and lots of cuddles and quality time with you. Up until recently, I have been on a single protein venison diet as I have suspected allergies- my ears go red and I scratch them if I eat something I shouldn't. It does seem to be mild allergies and we are currently experimenting what triggers it the most. So far we have found that fish and lamb don't really agree with me. I am now eating a delicious hypo allergenic food that the humans bought me and I am doing great on it. They say it costs no more than normal dog food and I feel amazing on it. They say I have become very puppy like, giddy and silly, in the best possible way. I seem to make them laugh a lot <3 Dogs: I was very undersocialised with other dogs but have made progress with this and have shown I can have dog friends, both male and female, so although I need to live as an only dog I could have a visiting dog friend. Full details of return will be given to potential adopters. I really hope to see your application!

About Bobbie

What life with Bobbie looks like

Bobbie is a extra-large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Oakwood Dog Rescue in Kingston upon Hull.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobbie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobbie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oakwood Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobbie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobbie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oakwood Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobbie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobbie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oakwood Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobbie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
