Adopt Bobby

Male · Adult · 8 years

Bobby was secured by the authorities after a biting incident occurred with Bobby's previous owner. Bobby was subsequently classified as dangerous, and the owner did not comply with the resulting regulations. At first, Bobby was quite reserved in the animal shelter. However, he has since become very open and very friendly towards people. Bobby has a lot of temperament that needs to be directed into proper channels. When he is happy, he barks very loudly, and it seems he has not yet learned to take a step back. This is also reflected in his interactions with fellow animals. Here, Bobby can become very excitable. Currently, we are training Bobby in the small 1x1 dog training area. He is neither leash-trained nor can he perform basic commands. It seems that little attention was given to the 7-year-old male dog in the past. Bobby must still undergo a behavioral assessment due to the biting incident in his past. We will also prepare him for this in the coming weeks and months. He must wear a muzzle in public and be led on a maximum 2-meter leash. These requirements must also be met by the new owners. Unfortunately, Bobby has shown to be very intolerant towards his fellow animals so far. We are trying to determine if there is a particular dog with whom he could get along. Bobby does not know any children. He is looking for experienced dog owners who can confidently guide him through life and are willing to train him further. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a adult dog waiting at Tierheim Braunschweig in Braunschweig.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Braunschweig handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Braunschweig will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Braunschweig early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
