Adopt Boellie

Keeshond · Male · Adult · 4 years

Boellie is a wonderful mixed breed Keeshond of 4 years old. He came to us because he dared to bite one of the owners. Boellie is simply fine living inside both during the day and at night. He did not live with other animals or children. Boellie is a huge loving cuddler with a super nice personality. However, when he did not get his way, he would bite, and he was then distracted with a treat, which unfortunately only encouraged this behavior. He did this only towards one of the owners. Here we got to know Boellie as a lovely cuddle and his behavior had not yet come up. Boellie is not car sick and even likes to be in the car. He could easily stay alone at home for 7 hours a day. He is housebroken and does not chew anything anymore. Boellie does not do his business in the garden, the owners had to take him for walks, which is also his favorite activity, so well seen from Boellie! Now Boellie is looking for his golden bed. He is looking for people who do not shy away from this behavior and want to work with him. He will not be placed with children. Boellie's interaction with other dogs is unknown. Boellie is not a couch potato but an active boy and is looking for active owners. Who can give him a good home?

Read original (nl)

About Boellie

What life with Boellie looks like

Boellie is a adult keeshond dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boellie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boellie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boellie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boellie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boellie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boellie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boellie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
