Adopt Bogár

Mixed Breed · Unknown

January 30, 2026: Bogár has changed a lot over the past period, which is largely due to his new medications. He struggled with coughing for a long time, which should have been resolved by increasing the dosage of his heart medication, but since he did not improve, further tests revealed that he had chronic bronchitis and he received new treatment. On the other hand, he was placed in the preparation section, where there are many people, and he found out that this is actually not such a bad thing for him. Thus, Bogár has become quite a bit younger compared to himself, greets his caretakers and volunteers with a joyful dance that even young people would be embarrassed by, and it's clear that he's bursting with happiness. It's an amazing heartwarming sight to see such a little old man enjoying the small joys of life, and we would be very, very happy if every rescue under our care felt as good as possible while, hopefully temporarily, staying with us. Bogár and Negró's owner passed away. The heirs cannot take them in, so they asked for our help. For now, they seem rather shy, we hope to manage to relax them soon.

About Bogár

What life with Bogár looks like

Bogár is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bogár, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bogár?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bogár on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bogár if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bogár already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bogár isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bogár and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
