Adopt Boki

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Boki is a beautiful Belgian Malinois who arrived at our shelter over three years ago, when his family had to leave the country. As is common with dogs of this breed, life in the animal shelter is particularly difficult for him. Living in a limited space and, most importantly, not having a reference figure by his side deeply affects him. Throughout this time, we have not been able to find the right person who can offer him the stability and commitment he so desperately needs and deserves. Boki is a highly active dog both physically and mentally, requiring daily stimulation, exercise, and challenges to channel all his energy and intelligence. He is very affectionate, sociable with people and other dogs, but is not suitable for inexperienced people or those who cannot fully engage in his well-being. He loves going for walks, tracking, exploring, and socializing. He is very intelligent, learns quickly, and walks well on a leash. However, Boki feels lost when he does not have someone he can fully trust, someone who can guide him and transmit security so he can relax and feel at peace. Additionally, Boki needs a family that does not leave him alone until he has adequately worked through periods of absence. When he is left without his reference, he truly suffers, to the point of trying to escape to find him, with the consequent risk of hurting himself. Therefore, it is essential that his future family has the time, patience, and commitment to help him overcome this difficulty. Boki only needs that special person who returns the stability, love, and trust he lost. In return, he will offer loyalty, affection, and a unique connection. About Boki

What life with Boki looks like

Boki is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Barcelona in Barcelona.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Barcelona handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Barcelona will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Barcelona early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
