Adopt Bolle

Dachshund · Male · Senior · 12 years

Bolle is a very intense dog. Everything he does is done with passion. Whether in his rejection or his affection, he is passionate and engaged. He is a wonderful dog with the right people who understand, read, and lead him. He can be a problem dog if he lives with people who are not clear and sovereign in their actions. Bolle came to us due to a lack of time, he was alone all day and sat in a crate. The big problem is that he never had people who took responsibility for him, really cared for him, and gave him clear rules. So he feels threatened quickly by men or certain environmental stimuli like cyclists and hurried passersby. During these occasions, it can happen that he lunges at strangers. This was his past, and this circumstance made Bolle very unhappy. Bolle flourished with us because finally, he can show what a clever little fellow he is. He is deeply attached to his primary caregiver and can convey to his person: With you, I will go through fire and everywhere. But he also demands from his person that the person does their job. Namely, clear leadership, rules, and the certainty that Bolle can rely on his person. Bolle is a devoted snuggler, a diligent student who learns quickly and understands quickly. But he is also very persistent in pursuing his goals, and training certain situations (like leash training) must be practiced again and again. Additionally, he must be secured with a muzzle in critical, new situations. However, a muzzle for Bolle is not a problem at all; he wears it very sovereignly and without reservation. Bolle has good social behavior with other dogs if they accept him and do not question him. At our shelter, he is now alone for a few hours and listens well without a leash. Similarly, Bolle is a good car companion and enjoys being with his person. Bolle can be lively and enthusiastic, with his good mood, he is capable of learning everything playfully. But the person makes the dog! Bolle is the forever dog; he bonds so closely with his people that another separation would be hard for him to bear. He is afraid of men and is clearly more of a woman’s dog; he needs a woman who is firmly rooted in life and gives Bolle a sense of security. Children should not be present, as they might unsettle Bolle too much. His new person should be dog-savvy and able to set clear and compassionate boundaries and guidelines for Bolle. A further, suitable dog is welcome, but no cats. Bolle is a special dog; if you have his friendship, you have it forever and a very special, little companion. This animal has a history of biting.

About Bolle

What life with Bolle looks like

Bolle is a large senior dachshund dog waiting at Tierheim Koblenz in Koblenz.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bolle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bolle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Koblenz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bolle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bolle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Koblenz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bolle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bolle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Koblenz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bolle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
