Bolle

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Bolle is looking for people with a particularly big heart. He has been waiting far too long! Bolle has been waiting almost his entire life with us, hoping for people who will see him and recognize what a loving fellow he is. People who are willing to give him some time, to get to know him, and to adjust to him. So often we have changed his profile text, trying to describe him in a way that will touch the right person, whose eyes will linger on him and who will become curious about him. It is so difficult to put into words what makes him special, what kind of wonderful companion he would make, and how much he deserves to be part of a family. Bolle is content, has so much love and joy to give, but has always been overlooked. We do not know why, as he is also an extremely handsome fellow. Due to his joints, a house/apartment with a garden would be ideal for him to enjoy the sun, as he can only manage short walks. We are looking for a single spot for Bolle with someone who has some understanding of dogs and will go through the introduction process with him, as he does not like other dogs. Bolle travels well by car, goes really well on a leash, can also be left alone after getting used to it, and can be kept occupied with search games and small tricks. He is so happy when he realizes that he has done something right and when he is praised, it warms the heart. We wish so much that he could still move out, to people who will give him gentle guidance, who will support him with their calmness, and will give him another nice spot. Children should not live in the household. If you are interested in Bolle, please contact us, we will give you a detailed "user manual" and accompany you in the start of a new life. About Bolle

What life with Bolle looks like

Bolle is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bolle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bolle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bolle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bolle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bolle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bolle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bolle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
