adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Bonanza can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Found on the street and brought to the shelter – that's Bonanza's past. No one knows her, no one knows anything about her. We would like to give her a story, a beautiful story that should begin today and end with a happy ending. Bonanza waited for her travel arrangements for a full 3 years of her young life in the shelter. She was able to travel to her foster home in Bocholt at the beginning of January and is developing very positively there. Bonanza is approximately 3.5 years old, 50 cm tall, and weighs about 20 kg. With that, she counts as a medium-sized dog and has a perfect size. She is still a bit shy around strangers but warms up quickly and has already settled in well in her foster home. She gets along great with her fellow animals. She lives in her foster home with various other dogs and plays with them. Bonanza probably needs to learn the right life in a family first. But she has already taken the first steps. Bonanza is already house-trained and shows curiosity but still a bit shy towards new things. Positive reinforcement dog training classes can certainly contribute to her development later. For Bonanza, we wish for loving, empathetic people who stand by her and go the rest of the way with her. Children should already be older and more stable, and most importantly, know responsible animal handling. Bonanza is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and is ready to move into her new home. She will of course bring an EU pet passport with her after a positive Bonanza brings Bonanza her name. Thank you, Silvie S.! You gave Bonanza her name. Status: 06.02.

Vielen Dank Silvie S.! Du hast Bonanza ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 06.02.2025

About Bonanza

What life with Bonanza looks like

Bonanza is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonanza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonanza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonanza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonanza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonanza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonanza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonanza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
