Adopt Bonito

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Bonito is a Blue Gascony Griffon mix. Once comfortable, he is affectionate, close to humans and a real playmate. Basic training needs to be reviewed, he is housebroken and used to sleeping indoors. On a leash, he is so happy to go out that he is rather energetic. You will need to be careful with his food as he protects it. Info: Adoption fee 270€ including identification, sterilization, first vaccination, internal and external deworming. OK with dogs. Can cohabit with a cat. Arrived at the shelter in July 2024. Weight: 26 kg Click here, pre-adoption questionnaire. There's love in the air. In this month dedicated to the heart, staff and volunteers have thought of a tender gesture to highlight the animal they would have chosen to love for life, if they had had the opportunity. "Love on a large scale with Bonito, size XL, joy of living XXL" Corinne Dear Santa Claus, It's me Bonito, I celebrated my 3rd birthday last month. I am a large breed and I don't know how to present myself in the kennel, I bark, I can surprise or scare people at first, but I just want to get attention! It has been a year that I am here, waiting, without being noticed, I am not small though! I am a rather sporty dog, I like walks, I take advantage of every chance, exploring, playing in the parks, rolling in the grass, eating treats and being cuddled. I am sociable and receptive, I listen well, I know sit, I know to give a paw, I know city life, I get along with dogs and cats. I have already been groomed at the shelter and I was good, I came out transformed! One point that needs work is that I protect my things, I am afraid of missing out, you should not hesitate to contact a professional to help us, my future human and me. I hope this letter reaches my family, that they read these few lines and that they feel like giving me a great gift, a home for always.

About Bonito

What life with Bonito looks like

Bonito is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA du Gers in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA du Gers handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA du Gers will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA du Gers early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
