Bonni

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Bonni is a 10-year-old mixed breed dog who has been living with her family for 7 years. She is looking for a forever home where she can spend her remaining years in safety and comfort. Bonni has had a tough life. She was probably hit by a car or truck about 2-3 years ago. Fortunately, she suffered no physical injuries, but this experience has left its mark. She can be frightened by bicycles, scooters, e-scooters, and fast movements from behind. In situations of extreme stress, she may snap out of fear. However, Bonni is so much more than her fears. ❤️ She is described as very people-oriented, friendly, and open. She seeks the company of her humans and shows herself relaxed and happy in quiet situations. For example, she was completely relaxed and friendly at a barbecue with about 15 people. Bonni is house-trained, loves to drive in the car, knows the most important basic commands, and walks well and relaxed on a short leash. Her energy level is moderate. With other dogs, she decides based on sympathy. We are looking for dog-experienced people who can give her security with calmness, patience, and clear, loving guidance. A quiet living environment with little traffic would be ideal. A securely fenced property would be desirable. It is also necessary to slowly rebuild her ability to be alone. Positive muzzle training is recommended so that Bonni can be safely accompanied even in situations that unsettle her. 🏡 Bonni is currently in 86551 Aichach. She has been living with her family for 7 years. Unfortunately, her owner cannot keep her due to health reasons. We unfortunately do not know anything about her life before these 7 years. She was taken over by a private person from Augsburg at that time. ℹ️ Important note: As an association, we only provide mediation services for Bonni. Bonni is not on a foster placement with our association and we do not know her personally. All information about her character, behavior, and history comes from her current owners.

About Bonni

What life with Bonni looks like

Bonni is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
