Bonnie

Australian Shepherd · Female · Young · 1 year

Bonnie is a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with a big personality, lots of emotions, and a lot of energy. She is a sweet girl with a big heart who loves to cuddle and give hugs. She loves people and is very happy to meet new friends. Bonnie is still a young dog and needs help understanding how to handle all the feelings and impressions that come with everyday life. But behind all that, she is an incredibly nice, affectionate, and cooperative dog who really wants to be with her human. With the right conditions, patience, and continued training, there is a lot of potential in Bonnie. Bonnie is a smart and willing dog who already has a good foundation. She is clicker-trained, well-trained, and knows many different commands and tricks. She has tried obedience training and personal tracking, and shows a great interest in working with her nose. We also see a lot of potential in search and nose work. She has also tried different rehab exercises, which she has been good at and shown interest in. At the same time, there are some challenges that a new owner needs to be aware of. Bonnie gets stressed easily and can resort to oversight actions, such as biting arms or leashes, when she is highly anxious. On walks, she reacts to other dogs by barking and lunging. Cars can sometimes also trigger reactions, but she has made progress there. It is important to be attentive, stay one step ahead, and help her break situations before they become too difficult. When you manage to read her and work with her well, she is a very pleasant dog to walk with and responsive in the cooperation. Bonnie needs a home where you really like to work with your dog and where training and activation are a natural part of everyday life. She is an active young dog with a lot of energy, drive, and a desire to work, and needs an owner who has both the time, commitment, and stamina to meet everything she is. It's not just about offering exercise and mental stimulation, but at least as much about helping her find calm, manage her emotions, and feel safe in different situations. She needs a safe and responsive person who can guide her with patience, understanding, and clear boundaries. We think Bonnie would thrive best in a quieter, preferably rural environment where everyday life is not too intense and where she has the opportunity to land. She will probably thrive best as a single dog in the home, where she can have her human all to herself. Bonnie is not used to being alone at home and therefore needs a home where she is not left alone for long periods or too often. Loneliness training needs to be built up gradually at her own pace. We are looking for someone who does not expect a finished dog, but who sees the joy in continuing to develop together. Someone who can appreciate her good sides, have understanding for what is difficult, and give her the conditions she needs to succeed.

About Bonnie

What life with Bonnie looks like

Bonnie is a large young adult australian shepherd dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bonnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
