Bonny

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten

Bonny is a female tortoiseshell cat born on 18 April 2026. She is an Exotic Shorthair and is currently available for adoption. Bonny and her family were found by the association in a rather unusual situation... Her mother, Britta, had chosen a chicken coop to give birth to her kittens, which might not seem like such a bad idea at first glance. However, Mother Hen, a true hen, was absolutely convinced that these six adorable kitten babies must have hatched from her eggs! So she immediately started performing her maternal duties, as chickens do. Up on the nest, defending and keeping warm. The kittens were wonderfully warm, but there was no milk bar to be found anywhere in all those feathers, so their hunger grew and grew... Britta's desperation increased, and eventually, the chicken coop owners noticed these very strange scenes unfolding. They quickly alerted animal welfare services. Fortunately, the cat family could be secured and reunited at their foster home. A rather relieved mother and hungry babies immediately snuggled up to each other. The foster family is developing well, and soon it will be time to pack the suitcases. Our kittens need to be spayed or neutered by the 6th month of life. This must be proven to the association with a sterilization certificate. We are looking for new homes for our kittens in pairs. Either in indoor housing, a secure balcony would be great, or a home with traffic-calmed outdoor access after successful spaying/neutering. Not too young children or even a friendly dog can wait for the kittens in their new family. Contact: If you would like to meet the gang, please contact Anja Kalisch

About Bonny

What life with Bonny looks like

Bonny is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
