Bonny

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

We received this message from Elena. I had all the puppies vaccinated. Three days later, Bonny started feeling unwell—she refused to eat, lost weight, and we went to the clinic. Blood tests were done today to figure out what’s wrong. The pup has neither a fever nor bloody diarrhea—nothing at all. I’m waiting for a call from the clinic with the test results; my head is spinning. Maybe the results will reveal something. Again, I’m worrying endlessly—everything just slips through my fingers, nothing gets done, yet somehow the work is finished. Once I find out the results, I’ll write again. Right now, we’re all completely helpless and speechless, not knowing what to say. We’re sending Bonny all our very best wishes that everything turns out well and that our Elena can finally breathe easy again—painful memories are surfacing once more. Dear Elena, please know you’re warmly embraced by all of us—you’re not alone. We urgently need even more thumbs-up for Miniwauzi Bonnie—the little one is doing alarmingly poorly. Elena writes: "She whimpers, wants to be petted, and seeks closeness. I was already at the clinic this morning, and now I’ll set up an IV drip—I have to sit with her to make sure everything’s okay; nothing else can get done." Elena has moved Bonnie into a separate room at the dacha, saying it’s important for Bonnie to feel her presence. She administers the continuous IV herself and drives to the clinic for check-ups. Here’s something uplifting and encouraging: Bonnie is truly doing much better now—tomorrow she’ll receive her final infusion. Cautiously, we’re feeling optimistic and can already delight in the incredibly sweet photos of our recovering babywauzi. Little Bonny was moved today by Elena from the outdoor enclosure into the dacha facilities. Elena has long noticed that Bonny was being bullied and tormented by her siblings, leaving her isolated—the pup has a sensitive, delicate nature. Things clicked right away with Xena; the girls enjoy their rough-and-tumble playtime together, and now our curly-haired black sweetheart has not only senior Wauzi Leon but also a same-age companion by her side. Puppies grow into proud, beautiful young dogs—how time flies! Look at the fluffy, cuddly treasure Bonny has become! In September 2018, she was found abandoned in a cardboard box by Elena. That winter, her condition was critical as she battled a severe infection. Now, this affectionate dog lady is still searching for her forever family. 7 a.m. in Omsk—Elena and her sister Irina are already on their way to the animal clinic, as today is Bonny’s scheduled spay appointment. Our big baby Bonny, with her tousled fur, gives our Elena quite a bit of mischief—walks beautifully on the leash, then suddenly chews right through her collar (not the only thing Bonny has destroyed so far). But how can anyone possibly be mad at this female dog...? All that’s missing now is a wonderful home—preferably with a verrrry big garden for her to run around in!

About Bonny

What life with Bonny looks like

Bonny is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Samtpfötchen Hilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Samtpfötchen Hilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Samtpfötchen Hilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Samtpfötchen Hilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
