Adopt Boots

Mixed Breed · Male

Boots is an absolutely sweet and gentle 15-year-old tomcat who came to us due to health and time-related reasons. He lives in a foster home for senior cats—essentially a cat retirement home. It’s a wonderful place, full of love and cuddles, and he gets many tasty treats to spoil him. All of this costs money, and we’re trying to support his caregiver, especially since Boots is a tomcat with numerous health issues and requires regular vet visits—we’re grateful for any help. He suffers from skin and coat problems, ear and digestive difficulties, allergies... and needs ongoing medication.

Boots ist ein absolut lieber sanfter 15jähriger Kater der aus gesundheitlichen und zeitlichen Gründen zu uns kam. Er lebt in einer Pflegestelle für die Alten. Also quasi ein Katzenaltenheim.

About Boots

What life with Boots looks like

Boots is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierhilfe Nordeifel e.V. in Bad Münstereifel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boots, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boots?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Nordeifel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boots on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boots if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Nordeifel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boots already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boots isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Nordeifel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boots and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
