Adopt Borda

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Borda is a strong-willed female dog looking for a responsible family... 🆘 A female dog appeared in the area of garden plots a few weeks ago. She was elusive. So many people tried to help her, unfortunately she was very scared. She would run away and after some time return to the place where she lived. Perhaps she was abandoned right there... She waited with hope for a person who never returned. Finally, she was secured and in late May 2023 she was taken to an animal shelter with tick-borne disease. Borda is a female dog that needs exercise, play and long walks. Later, she happily rests. She is an intelligent and wise Suna with a strong character, not for everyone. Borda behaves differently on walks than in the crate - introductory walks can therefore be very misleading. Her "difficult" character only comes out in the crate/Home. Therefore, we are looking for people who have experience with difficult dogs. For home as a single. For caregivers with two strong characters, home without children. What we know⤵️ ❗ Borda has already returned twice from adoption.❗She chooses one caregiver.❗Requires at least several introductory walks.❗Not everyone can get the leash.❗She guards her bowls and toys. Born in 2021. Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped. Reaches the knee. Lives in Radom. Transportation on own.

About Borda

What life with Borda looks like

Borda is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Radom in Radom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Borda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Borda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Radom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Borda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Borda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Radom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Borda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Borda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Radom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Borda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
