Border-Collie in

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Paula - Border-Collie-Hündin sucht erfahrenes Zuhause (Vermittlungsunterstützung) Paula is a 16 kg Border-Collie-Hündin born on 27. 09. 2020. She came to her current owner at three months old and has lived with him in Hamburg since then. Paula is a very intelligent, eager to learn, and affectionate dog. She has a close bond with her human, is cuddly, and can relax well in a quiet environment. She enjoys working, is highly motivated by food, loves water and swimming, and regularly does agility. Due to her history, Paula is not an easy family dog and is looking for very experienced people. She has already been found to have insufficient socialization early on. She shows a strong control and guarding behavior and reacts particularly to unfamiliar men, other dogs, and various environmental stimuli. In high-stimulation situations, she can quickly become overwhelmed and needs a person who recognizes her signals early and gives her clear and calm security. Paula has a mandatory muzzle order. This is based on two reported incidents that resulted in superficial skin redness but no bite injuries. A behavioral test was then conducted at the veterinary office and the muzzle order was issued for Hamburg. The relevant documents can be viewed on request. Paula currently lives with her owner's child and shows a clear protective behavior towards him. For her new home, we would like an environment without small children due to her history. We are looking for a quiet, low-stimulation home in rural areas, with an experienced single person or a couple, ideally with experience with Border Collies, herding dogs, or reactive dogs. Few visitors, clear structures, sufficient rest, and the willingness to consistently manage and provide further professional support would be important prerequisites. Paula is not a "bad" dog. She is intelligent, loyal, very people-oriented, and can form a close and trusting relationship under the right conditions. We therefore do not want a quick, but a really suitable and long-term place for her. Her current owner has decided to give Paula up with a heavy heart if a more suitable and relaxed living environment can be found for her. He does not want to simply get rid of her, but to find the right place for her responsibly. If you are seriously interested, further information, documents, and videos can be provided. Information:

Informationen:

About Border-Collie in

What life with Border-Collie in looks like

Border-Collie in is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Harlingerland in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Border-Collie in, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Border-Collie in?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Harlingerland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Border-Collie in on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Border-Collie in if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Harlingerland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Border-Collie in already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Border-Collie in isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Harlingerland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Border-Collie in and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
