Adopt Boris

Male · Senior · 11 years

Boris is a loving 11-year-old schnauzer. He came to us due to a relationship break and there were no animals allowed in the new residence. Boris is just fine living freely indoors during the day with access to a yard. At night, he slept freely indoors. Boris did not live with other animals. He did live with a little one, but that didn't work out well. Boris is housebroken and no longer chews anything. He was typically alone at home for 12 hours a day. Boris is not car-sick and does not try to escape from home or the yard. Now, Boris is looking for his golden cage. He is not placed with small children or other animals. Children from 14 years and up seem to be possible! He is seeking a home where he is not alone for 12 hours a day. Boris still enjoys his daily walks and can still comfortably walk several kilometers. Who can give Boris a warm home?. Note: this animal has a bite history.

About Boris

What life with Boris looks like

Boris is a small senior dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boris, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boris?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boris on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boris if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boris already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boris isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boris and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
