Borona

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Was taken in: 2019.10.06. Borona and her seven puppies came from Bogács into our care, where she gave birth to her puppies in a cottage. After a request for help, they were taken into our care. Borona is fearful, flinching at any touch. We don't know what her life was like so far, but her sad eyes and fearful little soul don't indicate much good. We hope she will also find an Angel who will prove that life is beautiful and that people can be trusted, a responsible owner, a family of her own, and home is the best thing in the world! She needs a lot of patience and many visits to get to know her, because for now she bites out of fear and finds every possible way to escape. She still sees the leash as an enemy, but she can be socialized with other dogs. We are looking for a home for her where she can be a full-fledged family member, where it is not a privilege but a natural state to be inside the house with the owner, she deserves a secure life with an owner! Borona is chipped, vaccinated, and neutered. Attention, Borona is at the NOÉ Animal Shelter's branch! Inquiries about her can be made via email. More pictures HERE!

About Borona

What life with Borona looks like

Borona is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Extremely fearful, bites from fear, requires extensive socialization and patience

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Borona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Borona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Borona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Borona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Borona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Borona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Borona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
