Bounty

male Australian Shepherd Born 31.03.2023 Currently a guest in the Dog Center at Pipinsburg Abandoned neutered [ ] yes / [x] no In the animal shelter since 20.11.2024 Bounty has been a guest at our animal shelter since March 2025 due to the challenges his special needs bring, and has been placed on pension training at the Dog Center at Pipinsburg in Bremerhaven. We hope this gives him a chance at a good life. We are very grateful for all who contribute to the shelter and training costs for Bounty (and dogs like him). Bounty is still actively searching for a suitable home, but this requires multiple visits to the Dog Center. The young Aussie male dog (according to his vaccination card, a mini, but in stock size a regular Australian Shepherd) was abandoned due to severe overloading and biting behavior. From day one, he showed himself to be an insecure, highly sensitive dog who must build trust in small steps. He longs for support and orientation, and is very clingy and cuddly with his trusted people. Strengthening this foundation must be a central task in his new home before any breed-specific (mental or physical) training takes center stage. When Bounty feels overwhelmed by excessive stimuli, a wrong movement when being led, perceived pressure, and so on, he can quickly switch to aggressive behavior. In new situations and with strangers, Bounty also tends to react with defensive or flight behavior. Toward other dogs, it depends on their liking. Bounty has a very high white percentage on his head but is double merle free tested. No hearing or vision impairment was detected in him (this is unfortunately not uncommon in Aussies with white heads and should therefore not be bred for). A very experienced and understanding home with one or two people, without children, who also have good knowledge of the breed (or similar breeds) and can meet him flexibly, calmly, and confidently is sought for Bounty. In the shared work, Bounty blossoms and, with good guidance and safe handling, is a dog with great potential. We hope that a suitable, engaged home can be found for Bounty! About Bounty

What life with Bounty looks like

Bounty is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bounty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bounty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bounty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bounty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bounty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bounty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bounty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
