Adopt Brandy

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello, I am Brandy. A sturdy tomcat, well-built, around ten years old, and definitely no longer a beginner in life. I have been around for quite some time and carry myself with the dignity of an old man who knows exactly what he wants—and what he doesn’t. I came with regular pain, as my body had decided to make my life difficult with urinary tract issues. This is now known, treated, and simply part of my everyday life. I need daily medication. I don’t find this great, but I accept it as long as it is done with respect. After all, I am no longer a kitten. I have always been an outdoor cat and do not want to give that up completely. A secure outdoor access would be perfect for me, but a flat with a balcony is also fine. As long as I have fresh air, a view, and my peace when I need it. Other cats are okay with me, but not a must. I am very good at keeping myself occupied. What you should know about me: I decide when I want to be stroked and when not. And that is not up for discussion; it is a fact. I am an absolute pro at attracting attention: I roll onto my back, purr heart-wrenchingly, look unbelievably cute—snap, suddenly my teeth are showing. Not out of malice, but out of principle. Human flesh apparently still belongs to me sometimes. I am stubborn, self-assured, and have my own head. I need people who can read me, respect my boundaries, and take me as I am: an older gentleman with character, quirks, and a healthy dose of stubbornness. For that, you won’t get a cuddly kitten on demand, but a real guy with personality. So, if you are looking for a quiet, experienced tomcat who is not constantly being petted, makes clear demands, and still has his own charm, you should get to know me. I promise nothing—except that it will never be boring with me.

About Brandy

What life with Brandy looks like

Brandy is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marktoberdorf in Marktoberdorf.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brandy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brandy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marktoberdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brandy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brandy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marktoberdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brandy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brandy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marktoberdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brandy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
