adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Brennus has found a home! His story: Brennus is a ca. two-year-old mixed-breed male dog, who has been waiting for a home for over a year in his foster home in Rüdersdorf. He was originally found in Romania with his siblings Etoille, Okidoki, and Leyla. In him lies a shy and reserved, but also friendly and absolutely charming dog. We suspect that he barely had the chance to learn anything during his puppyhood and is therefore often overwhelmed by most environmental stimuli. He needs a lot of time to build trust. He is very reluctant to be touched by strangers, increases the distance, or freezes in fear. However, with patience and calmness, it is possible to let him wear a collar and harness freely. He has now developed trust towards his foster caregivers and has become a very cautious, but very curious and unbelievably cute dog towards them. He approaches them openly and is happy to see them every morning. He takes food from the hand in stress-free situations, but reacts particularly positively to social praise. Brennus comes willingly to be stroked and goes away again if it becomes too much for him. He walks the familiar routes calmly on a leash and can easily pass by cars, lorries, other people, and dogs. If there is a new situation for him, it helps him to take a short break and process the situation calmly. However, there are also still some situations from which he tries to flee or freezes. He is very compatible with other dogs, shows himself to be very playful, and is very socialized regarding communication with fellow animals. Brennus has met children and shows no fear, but the usual hesitation with which he reacts to all strangers.

About Brennus

What life with Brennus looks like

Brennus is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brennus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brennus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brennus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brennus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brennus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brennus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brennus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
