Adopt Briganti

Domestic Shorthair · Male · Senior · 13 years

Briganti is approximately 2012, a tabby tomcat cat, who was supposed to be euthanized by his previous owner because of his bad breath. Of course, we did not allow that, so he became a resident of the NOÉ Animal Shelter / Catland department. Briganti is a double positive cat (FIV/Felv positive), so he lives in our isolated section for infected cats. Because of a springtime illness, he temporarily moved to a foster home for the duration of his recovery, where it turned out that an ALLOCICA <3 took over command in the dog-loving/many-kids family, and without sparing time or energy, made it clear to everyone that from now on, it will be as she wants. And that's it. If it suits her fancy, she will stop at the front door and direct traffic, meaning only the dog she deems acceptable can cross the threshold. This can be somewhat useful, since a dog cannot enter the house - which she now considers her own - without a doormat, and Briganti votes the dog out of the team. At such times, she gives the unworthy four-legged creature a well-aimed series of slaps to make it clear that it has no place in the good world, that is, in her apartment. For some unknown reason, the dogs respect Briganti's self-awareness and commanding status, and there are some that flee screaming from the retaliatory measures, meaning the slap series. The calmer ones melancholically accept that Briganti has taken up service, and lie down in the entrance hall waiting for the service to end. This results in a silent protest-like scene in the not very large entrance hall, but Briganti says it's all good like this :) When not on duty, Briganti spends most of the day resting on the top level of the bunk bed, turning left and right, and adding some yawns. Briganti really likes being close to people, but is not the type that constantly tries to climb into the owner's lap and snuggle. We are looking for a guardian for the soon-to-retire Briganti sergeant, where he can live peacefully and quietly. Managing one or two dogs is not a problem, it fits into his schedule even with retirement. Briganti also gets along well with other cats. Naturally, any other subordinate position is possible alongside her. Because of her infection, Briganti can only be placed as a single cat, or as a roommate with another infected cat. Therefore, her immune system must be continuously strengthened. Briganti is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Briganti kb. 2012-es születésű, cirmos kandúr macska, akit korábbi gazdája altatni akart a szájszaga miatt. Briganti más cicákkal is jól kijön. About Briganti

What life with Briganti looks like

Briganti is a small senior domestic shorthair cat waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Note from the shelter: FIV/FeLV positive - needs special care and isolation from uninfected cats

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Briganti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Briganti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Briganti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Briganti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Briganti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Briganti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Briganti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
