Brisa

European Shorthair Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 5 years

November 2024, Fabienne's Diary: Brisa stood at the Algeciras shelter gate, heavily pregnant. She presented herself at the Algeciras shelter gate one morning, heavily pregnant and starving. She didn't let herself be caught easily, but the trap finally succeeded. Barely two days later, she gave birth to 6 little kittens. Brisa was extremely scared at first, but gradually she became a relaxed mom to her little ones. Fortunately, these will be the last ones she has had to bring into the world. The little ones don't know anything and grew up carefree, but their mom went through a real hell. The volunteers care for them with all their love and that was a good start for them. Mom needs time to get to know you, then she relaxes and gives you friendship. She is a project of time, certainly not a ready-made kitten because she has a backpack. Her six kittens are: Bobby, Bonita, Bibbi, Blumi, Buddy and Minka. Buddy, Bobby and Minky are the most playful and social kittens of the litter, the other three have inherited their mother's reserved character. Another sad story, in which another kitten was neglected and mistreated.

About Brisa

What life with Brisa looks like

Brisa is a small adult european shorthair cat waiting at ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) in Spain.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΈAdopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Brisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
