Adopt Brisa

Mixed Breed · Female

Guessing which dog breeds are hidden in our new arrival Brisa, would be as successful as trying to explore how many grains of sand are in a sandbox. Brisa is one of many proofs that nature simply creates the most beautiful and funny dogs. Brisa wandered around a village near Linares for some time, but the locals were unable to secure the frightened little female dog. Fortunately, the concerned people informed our friends from ArcoNatura, and with the help of a cage trap, they managed to bring Brisa safely to the animal shelter. The first days, our beautiful princess was very unsettled and overwhelmed by the impressions of the new environment, but Brisa is a clever girl and quickly realized that she is now safe, and the advantages of regular meals and loving cuddles are already very convincing for hungry and often abused street dogs. Brisa is three years old (as of 02/2023) and thus still a very young lady who has successfully navigated the cliffs of adolescence. The little playmobile is still somewhat reserved towards people, but Brisa is open and cheerful, curious and every day more ready to give humans a chance. We are looking for a patient and humorous family for this cute chocolate praline, who want to start a common adventure with the cheerful and well-balanced lady. The new home of our princess should be set up to initially provide her with enough opportunities to retreat and make contact at her own pace. However, we are sure that Brisa will become a funny and very active family member once she is thawed out and understands that she can simply forget her bad experiences and overwrite them with beautiful, colorful and cheerful experiences.

About Brisa

What life with Brisa looks like

Brisa is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
