Adopt Britta

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Britta is a mixed-breed female dog born in March 2025, who, along with her five siblings Bessy, Betsy, Benson, Blossom, and Birdie, was found as a puppy on the grounds of a factory near the shelter in Svilos. She is now ready to travel and is eagerly waiting for a loving family where she can stay forever. Britta is a loving dog who is still a bit cautious and unsure around people. However, it becomes clear quickly that she longs for closeness and affection. She would like to come to people, enjoy being petted, and belong – yet the final step of trust does not always come easily to her. With people she already knows, Britta opens up much more quickly. Once she has formed trust, she enjoys being petted very much and shows her affectionate side. She is also open enough to take treats from strangers and play with them. Britta gets along excellently with other dogs. In a free run, she shows curiosity and interest in her surroundings. She likes to sniff around, carefully explore everything, and also chase balls. However, one of her greatest passions is water – splashing and playing in it bring her particular joy. For Britta, we wish for a understanding family that gives her the time she needs to come along and build trust. With patience, love, and empathy, she will gradually open up and develop into a loyal companion. Then, nothing will stand in the way of shared outings, exciting activities, and a happy, fulfilling dog life.

About Britta

What life with Britta looks like

Britta is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Britta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Britta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Britta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Britta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Britta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Britta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Britta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
