Brodie

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten · 6 months

"Brodie" is a shy kitten who is starting to show himself more outside his hiding places. He is a little braver than his sister "Belia" and "Baila". The three siblings had no contact with people before coming to us. Here at the animal shelter, they are learning that people don't want to harm them. When meeting strangers, ".Brodie" runs away at first. However, you can tell he wants to come out of his shell more. We are looking for patient people who will give him the time he needs to build trust and come out of his shell. A social male kitten should already be living in a home with other cats, as he is very social with other cats and enjoys their company. Ideally, he would be rehomed with an existing social tomcat, who can show him that everything is okay and that he doesn't need to be afraid. ".Brodie" is looking for a home suitable for apartment living with a secured balcony.

About Brodie

What life with Brodie looks like

Brodie is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brodie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brodie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brodie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brodie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brodie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brodie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brodie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
