Brownie

Australian Shepherd · Male · Young · 1 year

I am Brownie. I am an Australian Shepherd - but to be honest, I'm not even sure how life as a dog really works yet. Many things that are taken for granted by other dogs, I have to learn first. Everyday life, walks, new people, different sounds or just carefree discovery of the world - all this is new and sometimes quite scary for me. That's why I am very uncertain at first and need people who give me time and don't expect anything from me. I wish for a quiet home where I can arrive at my own pace. Maybe there already lives a confident dog there that I can orient myself around. That would definitely help me to become bolder. If you have won my trust, you will get to know a completely different side of me. Then I'll be a lively little rascal who participates in every mischief and enjoys every attention from his caregivers to the fullest. Cuddling, spending time together and just belonging - that's what I find really great. For our getting to know each other you should definitely take your time. I am not a dog that immediately rushes into your heart at the first meeting. But if you are patient and give me the chance to gain trust, you will get a loyal companion by your side who will celebrate every small progress with you together. Maybe you are exactly the person who shows me how beautiful a dog's life can be. I am waiting for you. Your Brownie 🐾

DE·Show original

Dein Brownie 🐾

About Brownie

What life with Brownie looks like

Brownie is a medium-sized young adult australian shepherd dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brownie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brownie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brownie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brownie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brownie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brownie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brownie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
