Bruno

Beagle · Male · Senior · 13 years

Our partners in Stintino are always the heroes in need. Not only for abandoned dogs and cats or those no longer wanted by their owners, but also when animals have suffered serious accidents. This is the case with this older Beagle. The poor fellow was found by a kind woman we have known for a while on the outskirts of town by the main road. She took the dog home and tried to find out if someone was missing him. But it was unlikely that anyone would claim the dog. A dog who was already old and now seriously injured... no one would want to take on such a burden. So the dog came to our partners in Stintino. When he arrived, the old man was so ill he couldn't even stand up, let alone walk. Paola takes care of him tenderly and does everything possible to get the dog back on his feet. And it worked. Bruno, as the dog was named, recovered and soon could already take walks on the terrace, usually accompanied by Gavin, the wonderful cat. During our team project tour in mid-April 2026, we met Bruno. He had recovered wonderfully and had been moved to an enclosure in the large dog house, where he lived with other dogs and could also enjoy free access to the large courtyard. Even though Bruno is well cared for: Rescue is not a substitute for a real home. And we sincerely wish the old gentleman a good time with a family and to be happy. Would you like to give this lovable senior this chance? May 1, 2026 Bruno traveled to his foster home in Germany. May 14, 2026 Bruno recently arrived at his foster home and quickly showed himself to be a truly lovable and friendly senior dog. The charming older gentleman now enjoys the more peaceful side of life. Of course, Bruno still likes his relaxed walks and is happy about small shared activities, but relaxed hours on the couch and lots of cuddles are also very important to him. As is often the case in old age, Bruno has some age-related issues. But that doesn't stop his joy of life. Bruno enjoys every day and clearly shows that there is still a lot of heart, joy, and love in him. For his retirement, we now wish Bruno a quiet and loving home where he can finally arrive and simply be a dog. A house with a garden would be a dream for him, because Bruno loves to lie comfortably in the sun and enjoy life. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to hearing from you.

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a large senior beagle dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
