Bruno

Male · Adult · 8 years

Bruno is a real treasure who forms a very strong bond with his person and simply loves to be around, cuddle, or give slobbery kisses. He does not need strangers in his life and avoids them, in these cases even seeking independent shelter behind his primary caregiver. If he doesn't get this protection from too much overstepping, he can become very serious. However, he communicates his boundaries very clearly beforehand. The animal shelter environment is increasingly stressful for this people-oriented male dog. He was surrendered due to a biting incident with another dog in a home setting. On walks, he shows little interest in other dogs and, depending on his liking, can even be quite tolerant. Nevertheless, he should now be the only prince in his forever home. He seems to have never heard of leash manners and has a pulling strength that is unfortunately quite noticeable. This needs to be worked on, as it requires a lot of strength to manage. You should, therefore, have very good stability. We are looking for an experienced dog home for Bruno, where he won't have to be alone too much, preferably a house with a garden. Due to his prey drive, he will not be rehomed with cats. There should also be no children present. If you are interested in meeting Bruno, please feel free to contact us. To do so, please fill out the interested party form via the "Dog Inquiry" link. This way, we will have all the relevant information for our initial conversation at hand.

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a adult dog waiting at Tierheim Ludwigshafen in Ludwigshafen/Rheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigshafen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigshafen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigshafen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
