Bruno

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

HE HAS ALREADY TOUCHED DEATH ONCE… AND STILL HE LOVES HUMANS Bruno has about 8 years old and although life has treated him cruelly, he still looks at people with hope… He arrived at the animal shelter in April 2025 from the territory of Gmina Maków after a traffic accident. He lay motionless. He didn’t move. It was clear that he didn’t want anyone to approach him. He must have been in unimaginable pain… Over time, he understood that here no one wanted to harm him. Slowly, he opened his heart… and fell in love with everyone. Bruno is a German Shepherd, incredibly smart, intelligent, and devoted. He has a character and knows what he wants. But when he trusts… he will do everything for his human. He will go to hell for them. Spending time with BRUNO is something special. Sometimes we feel that it’s not us who are treating his sadness… but he is treating ours. He is a true dog therapist. All it takes is to sit next to him, spend a moment with him, and a piece of your heart stays in his kennel… Unfortunately, the accident left a huge mark on his health. Tests showed numerous fractures of the pelvis and the spine, changes within the vertebrae, and muscle atrophy… Experts say straight up—it’s a miracle that Bruno can even walk. Despite the pain, despite his past. Despite everything that has happened to him… Bruno does not give up. He fights every day. He wants to live. He wants to love.

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
