Adopt Bubu

Mixed Breed · Unknown

2025.10.13.: Bubu is large and determined, not a humble dog by breed type. Independent, who likes to go his own way, but fortunately we can guide him a little with the leash to know where he should want to go now. His characteristics are not surprising, since this is how a shepherd dog should be, but without performing its ancient task, it is not the easiest case. When Bubu goes for a walk, you can already hear it from the barking of the other dogs, as it causes much more "ovation" from the other dogs than others, and he proudly walks in front of them, occasionally also speaking himself. So Bubu is not a dog for a first-time owner, but rather it is definitely necessary that he has an owner who understands the breed, with whom he can develop through cooperation. Bubu roamed a lot, which his older owner did not prevent. Because his daughter moved out, she wanted to have him euthanized, but thanks to the help of our volunteers, he came into our care.

About Bubu

What life with Bubu looks like

Bubu is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bubu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bubu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bubu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bubu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bubu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bubu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bubu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
