Gender: Male Age: Born around November 2022 (approximate estimated date) Size: Medium (estimated) Date of arrival at the center: March 2023 Neutered: Yes Vaccinated: Yes Microchipped: Yes Agreements: OK with dogs Temperament: April 8, 2026: Two long hours of walking in the woods today. Putting on the harness was tricky again—just like yesterday—but it was worth it. He was wonderful once more! Though a bit tired after April 7, 2026: Here I am again with the latest (good) news. I decided yesterday to insist on putting Buckley’s harness on him. It wasn’t easy at all; he ran around everywhere trying to get away from me. I had to “corner” him and hold him by his collar. He struggled, so I had to “scold” him—and finally, he just let me put it on. The car ride was a bit stressful, but he was with one of my dogs. But right from the start of the walk in the woods, he was a joy. He was truly amazing! I’d put on a 15-meter leash so he could walk without feeling immediately restrained—which he hates. We walked for a good hour, and he was great the whole time. We met a walker, and Buckley went straight toward him; the man was able to gently pet him. We passed some cyclists—no negative reactions at all! But we did meet a man with his dog who wasn’t very friendly (he was barking and growling), which scared Buckley a little. But he just stepped back a bit; he didn’t bark or growl in response. Then we came across a walker with two big Hafgan greyhounds, who were way too sociable and came right over to my two dogs. Even my Jiji, who is very sociable, wasn’t very comfortable. But for a first time, I really thought he did great! He loved his walk! Although his initial arrival seemed promising, he became more fearful and started isolating himself more and more in my room. I was torn between giving him time and space and waiting for him to come back to us, and trying to win him over by visiting him occasionally and “forcing” my presence on him. Although he seemed anxious when he saw us approaching, he was always incredibly gentle and would let us pet him. January 15, 2026: Buckley is really making great progress. He goes out into the garden, moves around the house, and enjoys the comfort of the sofa. He’s cuddly and loves being petted—he never gets enough. He doesn’t hesitate to come and paw at our arm to ask for attention. He gives kisses and accepts ours. He’s also quite a foodie. Right now, he’s still afraid of the leash—he doesn’t like feeling restrained. We’ll work on that. I’d love to find him a home with a garden and a canine companion.

On va travailler dessus.

About Buckley

What life with Buckley looks like

Buckley is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buckley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buckley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buckley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buckley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buckley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buckley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buckley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
