Buddy

Chihuahua · Male

Buddy is a sweet, heartwarming little guy with a big need for cuddles. His past in Spain is a mystery, but his vaccination records show he had a caring home from birth. We don't know why he ended up in a shelter, but we're happy to have taken him in and arranged his trip to Germany. Buddy is now in foster care near Nuremberg, where he's finally forgetting the tough weeks in the shelter. He's a very open, people-loving, and adorable treasure. He enjoys every petting session and his soft beds. He gives kisses and loves humans more than anything. Since he doesn't like walking on a leash, he prefers the dog-safe garden. There, he runs around happily, but he's generally a calm guy. Unfortunately, very small dogs often have health issues. Buddy's airways are narrow due to his short snout (brachycephaly), which makes it harder for him to breathe. He has to work a bit harder when eating, but he manages well. He's a bit too chubby at the moment and should lose some weight. We're looking for true Chihuahua fans with plenty of time to give Buddy a heaven on earth. Together, you can shape his figure with relaxed walks in the countryside, enjoy endless cuddle time, and snuggle up on the couch. Having another small, social dog would be great, but Buddy will be happy as a single prince. If you want to give this cute little guy a loving home, we'd love to hear from you. Tell us a bit about yourself and your life so we can see if you're the perfect match for the little treasure. Since Buddy is in Bavaria, you should be able to pick him up there. About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a very small adult chihuahua dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
