Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.BREED: Collie CrossSEX: Male (Neutered)AGE: Aprox. 8 YearsSIZE: Large (35kg)Buddy came into rescue care along with another dog from the same home, when their elderly owner had to go into a nursing home and thre was no family member able to take on the dogs. Although the dogs were good friends, they are by no means inseperable and their former owner was completely confident that they would be perfectly comfortable bein homed as individuals, describing them as very happy-go-lucky dogs who just like people. How nice is that? For that reason, we are not seeking to hme them as a pair. Buddy has been a loved dog, but has not been getting enough exercise or attention in recent times, so will need a more active owner to help him shed a few pounds! He loves to play ball, and enjoys his walks but can pull on the lead. Other than that he is a very good boy, easy going and friendly.Buddy has not lived with childr3en, so although he has met lots of youngsters and been very good with them, we would not wish to rehome him with children under 10 years. He has not lived with small pets, and will chase cats, so no feline family members for this lad! He is good with other dogs.Buddy is a very cheerful and obliging dog who will make a great companion for an active owner, able to give him company most of the time as he has been used to being with both a person and another dog so would potentially find long periods of solitude quite difficult.When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands.
