Adopt Bueno

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Bueno is a neutered mixed-breed dog born in January 2024, who lived with other dogs in a pack on the street until he was brought to the animal shelter in Svilos with severe injuries to his neck and ears by Serbian animal protectors. It is believed he was bitten by unfamiliar dogs. The wounds had already become infected, and Bueno needed urgent surgery and medical care. His wounds have now fully healed, and he is ready to be adopted by a loving family where he can stay forever. Bueno is a friendly dog who, during his life on the street, showed himself to be very social and harmonious in his interactions with other dogs. However, life in the shelter is hard for him: Bueno is unhappy and visibly suffers from being confined in a cage. Especially after his stay on the run, he does not want to return to his cage and be confined again – a clear sign of how much freedom and movement he needs. Bueno loves being on the go: sniffing, exploring his surroundings, and relaxed wandering are among his greatest passions. He thoroughly enjoys cuddles, as he is very fond of being petted and shows himself to be friendly and open. He likes to be scratched on the belly and is delighted by treats and attention. He gets along well with other dogs, showing himself to be friendly and uncomplicated, but does not play much with other dogs or toys. It is not known how he reacts to cats and other animals. For Bueno, we are looking for an active home without small children, ideally with plenty of time for exercise and engagement. He needs extensive walks, mental and physical stimulation, and people with dog experience who can give him security, lead him calmly and clearly, and understand his needs.

About Bueno

What life with Bueno looks like

Bueno is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bueno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bueno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bueno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bueno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bueno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bueno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bueno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
