Adopt Bugsy

Male · Young · 1 year

Bugsy – A cheeky, affectionate boy ready for his next chapter Stink Bug (affectionately named ‘Bugsy’) is a friendly, curious, playful little character with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He is almost 18 months old and is an Arabian Mau. Bugsy is neutered, microchipped and his vaccinations are up to date. Available as a direct home-to-home adoption, Bugsy’s adopter will need to collect him from the PR1 area of Preston. As Arabian Mau’s are highly energetic, intelligent, and famously “talkative,” they thrive best with owners who can commit to their specific physical and mental needs. Therefore, we are looking for an active, engaging owner who is willing to provide plenty of mental stimulation to keep Bugsy occupied. It is advisable that potential adopters research the Arabian Mau breed prior to completing an application form. Links to videos of Bugsy: Bugsy 1 Bugsy 2 Bugsy 3 Bugsy is the kind of cat who wants to be involved in absolutely everything you’re doing; whether that’s following you from room to room, supervising chores, or climbing into bed for cuddles the moment you sit down. Personal space? Bugsy doesn’t believe in it when affection is involved! He absolutely loves curling up in bed beside you and will often fall asleep still purring away contentedly. When he’s especially happy, he’ll make biscuits on you while cuddling and sometimes even tries to press his face against yours. He’s incredibly affectionate, social, and thrives on human company. Bugsy is also wonderfully playful and full of beans. String toys are his absolute favourite, followed closely by little balls and chase toys. He can be hilariously silly at times (occasionally failing to realise you’ve thrown the toy and looking completely baffled!) but he’s also shown surprising intelligence too, including figuring out how to open door handles! Bugsy would also benefit from a range of interactive and puzzle toys to keep him occupied. He’s a very vocal boy with a huge variety of meows, chirps, chats, and dramatic little yowls to keep conversations going throughout the day. He’s very good with people and settles quickly around new visitors. He’s gentle, sociable, and has never shown aggression towards humans. He does occasionally give playful little love bites during games or cuddles, but never hard. He’s also happy being picked up and held (though being cradled like a baby isn’t really his favourite!) and can wear a harness and lead quite well. Bugsy is currently fed on Whiskas dry biscuits alongside Whiskas wet food in jelly, with flavours rotated regularly. He’s more of a grazer than a big eater, so he prefers having food available throughout the day to snack on when he pleases. He absolutely goes wild for paste tube treats, freeze-dried treats, and Dreamies! He uses Catsan non-clumping litter and is excellent with the litter tray; a proper professional burier! His Ideal Home Bugsy would thrive best as the only pet in the home. Sadly, he has shown territorial aggression towards other household cats, and while this has been very difficult emotionally, it’s clear he would be happiest and least stressed in a calm, cat-free environment where he can have the home (and humans!) to himself. He would suit an indoor-only home perfectly. Although he currently has access to a catio, he’s never shown much interest in the outdoors and is actually quite nervous of outside spaces. He’s also terrified of the hoover and will immediately disappear when it comes out! Bugsy would likely be fine with older, respectful children who understand cat boundaries and can give him space when he wants it. He doesn’t enjoy tummy rubs and dislikes feeling restricted or shut away for long periods, though he settles happily in a room if his people are there with him. He has been left alone during working days before and copes well, but he truly shines when he has people around to cuddle, chat to, and supervise. Bugsy is honestly such a lovely, cheeky, affectionate boy. He has so much love to give and deserves a home where he can fully relax, be spoiled, and be someone’s best little companion. Whoever adopts Bugsy is getting an incredibly cuddly, entertaining, and special cat! Please click on the gallery photos below for full-size images:

About Bugsy

What life with Bugsy looks like

Bugsy is a extra-large young adult cat waiting at Avid in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bugsy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bugsy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Avid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bugsy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bugsy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Avid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bugsy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bugsy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Avid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bugsy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
