Bumszli

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

FIVE dogs that were rescued from flooding were temporarily transferred to our care from Hajógyári island. From the small group of rescued dogs, 3 dogs returned to their owner, but 2 dogs (Döbrögi and Bumszli) remained in our care due to their poor health condition. Their owner gave up ownership in order for them to recover. The well-adjusted pair, the female dog Bumszli who is no longer a puppy, born in March 2013, is a large mixed breed. She had several tumors, from which she has already recovered from one, but she still needs further surgeries. Bumszli is used to people, very friendly and curious dog. She has never lived in a palace in her life, but she has received love, which is also visible on her. We would really like that after her recovery, she could finally have her own garden or sofa. In Bumszli's case, we are not insisting exclusively on indoor living, but she would certainly gladly try what it's like to experience the warmth of home, watching TV with the family or being part of a birthday party prepared for her. Bumszli, vaccinated, spayed, negative heartworm test, is adoptable as a family member.

About Bumszli

What life with Bumszli looks like

Bumszli is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Has tumors requiring ongoing surgical treatment. Already had one tumor removed but needs additional surgeries.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bumszli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bumszli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bumszli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bumszli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bumszli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bumszli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bumszli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
