Burton

Male Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Meet Burton! πŸŽƒ This Halloween, Burton is searching for a forever home where he can settle in, feel safe and loved and begin his next chapter. He may have a name that belongs in a Tim Burton film, but his greatest wish is a real-life happy ending with a family that will spoil him! This lovely lad is an affectionate boy, enjoying head and chin rubs. He also loves to curl up on a warm lap for a snooze. He can be worried when you first meet him but if you offer him some tasty dreamies he will be friends in no time! Burton will need to be settled into a spare room as he has shown he can be highly fearful during the settling period especially around loud noises and sudden movements. He should have all his resources close by and plenty of cosy hiding places. Burton can sometimes become easily overstimulated and nip when he is. Therefore, Burton would be best suited living with teenagers and adults who will understand that he will need time and space to settle and allow him to lead interactions at his pace. Burton will need outside access once settled. About Burton

What life with Burton looks like

Burton is a medium-sized adult cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Burton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Burton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Burton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Burton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Burton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Burton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Burton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
